How it works
One box on the offer. A whole day behind it.
On every offer
- GOOD, OK or BAD in the top corner within a moment, with rand per km, rand left and rand per hour.
- Cash or card and the high-demand multiplier shown on the box.
- Full distance. The drive to the passenger counts as well as the trip.
- Long trips. A trip of 25 km or more adds part of the empty drive back, because it often ends far from the next job.
- Next-ride offers. The offers Bolt sends while you are still on a trip are read too.
Your petrol
- Add each pour with the odometer. The app works out your real litres per 100 km instead of a guess.
- Odometer for the day. It then shows the petrol you really used and how much of your driving is empty.
- Your numbers. Petrol price, fuel use, tyres and servicing and every threshold can be changed.
Your day and week
- Today. Your earnings are read from the Bolt home screen and compared with the petrol you poured, so you see when petrol is covered.
- This week. What you kept after petrol against your target, and how much you must keep per hour to reach it. You set the target and your shift hours.
- Taken or lost. Counts the offers you saw and the ones you got, cash against card, with the estimated rand left on those trips.
- Offer history. Save it as a file to look for your best hours and areas.
Built not to mislead you
- It never taps. It only reads. Accepting is always you, and touches pass straight through the box.
- Sanity check. An impossible reading gives a grey "Check this offer yourself" box, never a confident colour.
- Honest flags. The box says when the pickup distance is estimated or your fuel use is still a guess.
- Earnings check. After a trip, the app compares your earnings with the fare it read, to catch reading mistakes.
- On your phone. Your trips, earnings and petrol figures stay on the phone.
How the colour is chosen
Lean on purpose
Bolt fares are low, so the rules do not make trips hard to get. BAD only shows when a trip is clearly poor. These are the starting settings, and you can change all of them.
| Box | When |
|---|---|
| GOOD | At least R30 left (about a litre of petrol), at least R0.90 per km left, and at least R50 per hour when the time is known. |
| OK | Everything in between. A slow trip is only ever lowered to OK, never to BAD. |
| BAD | Less than R5 left, or less than R0.30 per km left. |
"Left" means the fare minus petrol for the pickup and the trip, minus an allowance for tyres and servicing. It does not include the empty driving between trips.
Straight talk
What it cannot do yet
- No promise of profit. The box is an estimate. Traffic, waiting time, tips and the drive between trips change what you keep.
- Not every offer is read. Sometimes an offer appears while another app, such as a navigation app, is on screen, and the box may not show. The grey box tells you when the app could not read an offer.
- Tested on Bolt. It was built and tested on a Samsung phone with the Bolt driver app. Uber screens have not been tested.
- Android only, Android 10 or newer.
- Bolt can change its screens, which can stop the reading until we update the app.
Independent
Not from Bolt
Trip Verdict is an independent project. It is not made, endorsed or operated by Bolt or Uber. Please also check the rules of the platform you drive for.
It reads your screen with Android's Accessibility feature, which is how screen readers work. It does not tap, accept or decline anything for you.
